Citrus skins, just how bad are citus skins?

Citrus skins are not a good thing for worms. They are extremely acidic, so if you are going to include them do so very minimally and cut them into small pieces so that they can be incorporated with the other material. You will find that the worms will avoid the citrus for quite some time until it breaks down a lot. If you put too much citrus in a bin it will "turn" acidic and you will experience a mass die-off of your worms, so be careful!

Q: I think I may not have used enough moisture with the initial bedding layer when starting this bin (I used damp shredded better and added dry on top). Can I add wetter bedding after the worms have been in there a few weeks? They're alive in there, but don't really appear to be thriving. They seem a bit comatose.
